Pre-Workshop Videos & Activities
This workshop is primarily hands-on practice with Tableau in order to learn to use key features of the software. To participate fully please do the following before the workshop:
- Download and Install Tableau for Students (10 min)
*Please note that downloading this application requires your email address to be shared with Tableau servers located outside Canada. B.C. privacy legislation requires we inform you of this and obtain your consent to this arrangement. Participation in this workshop will be considered as your consent.- Click on the “Free Student License” link in the top right corner
- Fill out the information and use your UVic email address to get your activation code and verify your student status
- You get to keep your Tableau license for as long as you are a student at the university. You will need to re-register annually
- Download this Excel dataset to your computer (<1 min)
- Explore some sample Tableau Visualizations (5 min)
- Introduction to Tableau video (20 min)
