Why GIMP?
GIMP is free to download and use open source software provides the tools needed for high quality image manipulation similar to what Photoshop provides. GIMP can also be used for producing icons, graphical design elements, and art for userinterface components and mockups. GIMP gives you the power and flexibility to transform images into truly unique creations.

At the end of this workshop, you will be familiar with:
- The common uses of GIMP
- How to access basic tools and navigate menus
- How to use layers
- How to do simple edits to a photograph (healing tool, convert to black and white, increase contrast, crop)
- How to resize an image for easier online sharing
- How to use Open As Layers to insert an image into a project
- Optional: How to use the Color Picker tool to select a color and use the Bucket Fill tool to add color to an area
- Optional: How to use the Foreground Select Tool
